Last N S

Finally, i have completed my last NS liability at the beginning of this month though by default.
It was a short 5 days stint but it was considered a High Key call-up caused the unit has done well in its exercise Wallaby held in Australia last year so CO promised that it would be a short call up this time.
Fortunately, it was from Mon till Fri so there wasn't much disruption to my work. Overall, the training was quite switch off, mainly weapon revision and a live firing (day and night) on Thurs. We booked out on Friday afternoon.

Nowadays, the guys are quite lucky in the army. At the end of the training, we only need to clean up our own bunk and personal areas as the other areas such as staircase, corridors, toilets ...........are being taken care off by contractors. The flushing system in the toilets are powerful though i would wish there would be hot water at night (hee hee)
The food has improved tremendously from those prepared by our cooks many years ago. CO can even choose the daily menu for the men. We have ice cream, soya bean curb, red bean soup ..... for dessert too. There are also two different serving to choose for during breakfast. Oh, we don't have to wash the plates and bowl also.

Since my previous unit has already MR, i have to join another unit for the very first time. As those guys are very much younger so there weren't much company except another good old pal but he was attached to another company. There was a lot of free time so i spent most of my time reading the bible in the comfort of my bed. Finished quite a lot of chapters during those 5 days. Seemed i am the only one who is 'holy' there.

There was a small incident during the 5 days in camp. I have 'lost' the firing pin of the weapon after a blank exercise before the live firing and this has affected my mood that day. Why so unlucky?? Have searched frantically for the whole vehicle as i have stripped the weapon there to clean before the live firing commenced but it was nowhere to be found till the last day when the armour came to inspect and the pin was found to be stucked inside the weapon which i have no idea how it has landed there. Thank GOD

Guess, i wouldn't have to wear the army uniform, carry the full pack. worry of any MOB, IPPT ..........unless ...........(touchwood)
Like the saying goes, 'when one lose it, he will cherish it.' Anyone out there cherishes those army days??
