High Street
High Street was the first street built in Singapore.
Constructed by convict labourers in 1821, it was a busy street in the 1960s, populated by retail shops and trading offices.
It is well known for its textile and tailoring shops run by North Indian settlers.
The area became less popular when shopping centres sprung aong Orchard Road
Excelsior Shopping Centre, one of the original buildings, still stands on High Street now.
I do make regular trip to this place as this place is now well known for musical instruments.
